Your spellcasters’ magical arsenal in Baldur’s Gate 3 is truly staggering, which can make it quite difficult for new players to figure out which ability is the strongest.

You have your Fireball, Disintegration, and many other deadly spells, but most players might be surprised to learn that the most powerful ability in the game is the humble magic of Create Water.

Create Water is a level 1 spell that does exactly what its name says—it creates a giant puddle of water. In a world full of monsters and magic, it seems completely useless, but being able to douse your enemies in a little H₂O can secretly let you obliterate them.

When a creature is in a puddle of water, they gain lightning vulnerability that doubles the amount of damage they receive from the element. On top of that, once a wet surface is hit with a lightning spell, it becomes electrified, causing everyone inside to receive additional damage and potentially become stunned.

Combining lightning spells with watery surfaces will let you deal hundreds of damage to multiple enemies even with low-level spells like Witch Bolt.

And you can make it even deadlier if you pick the Sorcerer class’s Storm Sorcery subclass, which will maximize the lightning damage of your spells.
