10 USELESS Video Game Skills You Were Tricked Into Buying
1. In Shining Armor - Fallout: New Vegas
Any veteran Fallout: New Vegas player knows that not all perks are equal.
Some are better than others, and certain perks, like Terrifying Presence, can only be used a small handful of times (that doesn't mean you won't pick it anyway, because, let's be real, nothing beats telling Ceasar to his face that you'll decorate his tent with his guts).
All this said, most of the time you know what you're getting into when you pick a perk. Well, with the exception of one fake, which tempts you into purchasing it with a promise of amazing abilities and then does absolutely nothing.
The perk in question is called "In Shining Armor." According to its in-game description, it gives the player a +5 damage threshold against energy weapons while wearing metal armor and an additional +2 while wearing sunglasses.
The catch? The perk is bugged. The script that applies its modifier says "Energy" instead of "EnergyWeapons," meaning that whatever buffs it gives you are applied to a non-existent weapon type, rendering them completely useless.
So don't let shiny things tempt you. Especially if they promise to reflect lethal projectiles.
