As a roleplaying game about the creatures of the night, Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines allows you to invest your experience points into powerful abilities that turn you invisible, transform you into a monster, or let you boil peoples' blood just by looking at them.

And then you have skills like Finance.

Finance, as the name might suggest, is a skill that deals with money. It's used to haggle with buyers and sellers alike, and increase the amount of monetary compensation you get for completing missions.

It's not a very spectacular skill when compared to your supernatural abilities, but considering how important cash can be early in the game, especially for players specializing in firearms (bullets are expensive), the extra money from Finance seems like a good investment.

Except anyone with any actual financial skill would tell you otherwise. See, the amount of extra cash you get from investing in the skill isn't all that great, and by the time it could make a significant difference, you'll already be making money, even without the Finance skill.

The promise of wealth that finance offers is just a scam. But then again, maybe you have to raise your Finance level first in order to understand it.
