10 USELESS Video Game Skills You Were Tricked Into Buying

9. Deadeye - XCOM 2

The recipe for building the perfect squad is a point of great contention amongst XCOM fans. However, if there's one thing most can agree on, it's that the Deadeye perk for the Sharpshooter class is one of the worst wastes of experience that new players commit all the time.

The in-game description of the skill makes it sound like an absolute must-pick. It lowers your character's accuracy by 25%, but in exchange, gives you a whole 50% increase in damage. The skill also works with sniper rifles, unlike its counterpart, Lightning Hands.

Unfortunately, due to XCOM's mechanics, any potential the perk might have is absolutely wasted. Because everything in the game is percentage-based, lowering your accuracy by a quarter almost guarantees that your character will miss most of their shots. And since Deadeye takes so much time to set up, even when you manage to hit, the damage would still be around the same as simply using Lightning Hands and spamming aliens with your pistol.

If you don't believe me, just think back to all the times your character missed a shot with a 90% chance to hit.
