10 Utterly Bizarre Video Game Covers You Probably Missed
6. Dr. Chaos For all of its faults, this cover is actually pretty cool. Given that it's actually a licensed Nintendo Entertainment System game, it's interesting and somewhat atypical to see bright red blood all over the cover, since the company tends to shy away from the grimmer side of gaming. This is definitely a case of the box art being cooler than the game, which is similar to Splatterhouse in that you play a hero going to a house of evil dealing with a mad scientist. To its credit, the opening sequence has some creepy animation and fantastic 8-bit music, but there's not much else selling it. The weirdness of this cover comes after you hit start and realize this is actually nothing like Splatterhouse because the quality of the graphics immediately downgrade and the game itself becomes a joke. Your parents can relax, they might not approve of the gory cover, but once they see the gameplay they won't really care.
