10 Video Game Characters Who Were Secretly The Villain All Along

1. Spooky - Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion

As the somehow adorable name would suggest, Spooky is anything but intimidating when you first meet her. A small cartoon of a blue ghost girl, Spooky looks like she would be more at home in a Scooby Doo cartoon that in a horror game.

And the dungeon you find yourself in reflects that, as in the first few levels the only threat you face are cardboard cutouts that occasionally pop out to prove anything can jumpscare you.

Only, then you suddenly start to see legitimate horror creatures, who are notably less cardboard and notably more bloodthirsty. These literal Beastie Boys may clue you in that the game is significantly less innocent than it first appeared to be - and thus that Spooky, the bastion of cuteness that she was, may also be more than meets the eye.

As is revealed over the various endings of the game, Spooky is actually the one who gathered all these nightmare monsters together, and the one who has been sending people to their death by facing them.

Her great villainous motivation? That people thought she was too cute and so she couldn't scare them, and so recruiting and collecting ghoulish creatures to keep with her means she can finally cause horror.
