10 Video Game Deaths That Should've Hit HARD (But Didn't)
6. Alex Weiss - Tomb Raider (2013)
One of the more likeable supporting characters in 2013's Tomb Raider reboot was Alex Weiss - the comic relief techie who clearly has a massive crush on Lara.
Later in the game, Alex volunteers to find the tools needed to repair the team's escape boat, and while Alex does get the tools, a giant pipe also falls on him, leaving him helplessly pinned to the ground.
Lara then finds him and attempts to help lift the pipe off, but it's no use, and with the pair also being fired upon, he urges Lara to just take the tools and save the others.
Lara reluctantly complies, but not before giving Alex a kiss on the cheek. D'awww.
This is such a soppy cliche of a sacrificial death that it veers dangerously close to accidental parody, and the fact that the guy died for the sake of a mere wrench and screwdriver just makes it that much more deflating. He deserved so, so much better.
