1. Everybody Other Than Naughty Dog - Crash Bandicoot
Until 2017 saw him "rebooted" by way of full remaster (hopefully also hinting at future sequels continuing this aesthetic), Crash was put through the wringer in every possible capacity.
Looking like some board room plaything, once Naughty Dog moved onto Jak & Daxter and sold the Orange Marsupial off, he saw multiple redesigns and forced sequels, the worst of which coming complete with tribal tattoos and ripped jeans.
It just wasn't the version millions had grown up with, nor the one that sold PlayStation as a brand to an entire generation. Crash's various developers had one hell of a mountain to climb going up against Naughty Dog's work and our collective nostalgia for it, but doing the Poochie method wasn't the way to go.
