10 Video Game Fan Theories That Became Fact
1. Halo: Combat Evolved - The OP Pistol
Halo is one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, famed in part for some of the most iconic weaponry in gaming history - Halo 2's multiplayer mode brings back both painful and joyous memories of the Energy Sword.
Upon release of Halo: Combat Evolved, many fans were suspicious that the pistol, the default side arm, was the most powerful weapon in the game. This was true of multiplayer as well as single player, the gun able to shred an opponents shield in only a couple of shots.
A revealing interview from Bungie's Director Jason Jones, finally put to bed what fans has been theorising for years. He admitted the studio had been having problems balancing the pistol during development, and so before release changed a "single number" in the pistols coding.
Acknowledging the controversy that befell the game as a result, he stated that "I will take the credit and blame for the pistol in Halo, I'll take the blame for everything in Halo..."
Ultimately, it was the developers passion and care for the game that inadvertently overpowered this weapon; a lesson for us all that last minute changes aren't always a good idea.
