10 Video Game Fates So Hilarious They Were Horrifying

4. Eating A Fish - Nier: Automata

Eating a fish is by far one of the stillest ways to die in gaming to date. Admittedly, in the world of the Nier franchise, it's also one that makes total sense, because you're a dang robot so of course you can't eat fish, what were you thinking.

Better yet, before you eat said fish, there's a good chance you will be explicitly told this will likely kill you, as well, and yet it's almost definite that you still will.

You don't get to see yourself pass out from aquatic consumption, but the alternative you're provided is both funnier and more worrying. The screen slowly fades to black, replaced with the reboot screen as your robo-brain tries to restart itself.

You are then explicitly told, via a text box, the entire slow, awful process that killed your character. It is in detail that is surprisingly gruesome, given you'd imagine robots generally can't have gross deaths. But instead of a regular shutdown, your internal fluids (gross) slowly congeal due to your fish supper, leaving you hoping you'd saved recently.

At least we know if we're ever taken over by robot overlords, we're only approximately seven lots of fish and chips away from claiming our planet back.
