10 Video Game Features Players Used To Love (But Are Now Sick Of)

7. Choices

Just Cause 4 Open World
Telltale Games

Telltale games are well known for having choice-driven narratives that allow the players to decide the fates of characters, as well as control over how the story unfolds.

There are many other games that use similar systems; usually to give a penultimate "good" or "bad" ending. Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spec Ops: The Line are fantastic examples of this, allowing players to make conscious decisions that will affect the story later on.

Despite this, decisions in games can leave a sour taste in one's mouth, as they often end up having very little actual impact. There are many games guilty of giving the illusion of choice, but that then follow on the same path regardless of what was chosen, with very minor changes to the outcome in some cases.

In addition to this, there are also decisions to be made in places where it may not necessarily make sense, and are so minor that players are left wondering what the point of them were. So not only have choices in games became rather overused, they've also grown seemingly more pointless and unnecessary, only added in to create a little more engagement with the plot.
