10 Video Game Franchises That Need To Die
2. Mass Effect
Andromeda could have been so good.
While the original trilogy had a rough ending, Mass Effect was still considered as one of the most high-quality and greatest series of games ever. So when Bioware announced that they would be making a fourth game to start up a brand new adventure without Shepard, fans were equally excited and skeptical.
Unfortunately, they should have only been skeptical.
Coming off of the original games, Andromeda was just a disappointment. There were promises of a good game here, but behind technical issues at launch, the underwhelming story and new lore that felt lazy in comparison to what came before, plus characters that went from half-baked to outright offensive, there just wasn't much for fans to love.
It was received so badly that Bioware immediately shifted focus to a proper sequel, as the new game that has been announced will seemingly be focused on Shepard's crew once more. But with Andromeda and Bioware's other failures like Anthem as of late, perhaps we can let the Commander retire permanently.
