10 Video Game Franchises Where Nobody Played The Original

1. Red Dead Revolver

Everyone is rightfully excited by the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2, the sequel to Rockstar’s open world Western masterpiece. The use of the number two is interesting, though, since it’s technically the third game in the franchise.

See the first game in the series is actually 2004’s Red Dead Revolver, for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It was a third-person action game where a hero named Red Harlow is seeking revenge for the murder of his parents years before. The game wasn’t particularly groundbreaking, but it was a well-designed shooter that received solid reviews and decent sales.

There was talk of a direct sequel but old Red wasn’t the most dynamic of heroes, and when it went quiet for a few years it was presumed dead.

While Red Dead Redemption is technically a sequel, they don’t share characters or storylines, and Rockstar have since played down the connection, with many forgetting there even was an “original” in the first place.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
