1. Helping The Dog - Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 is a tough survival horror where, for the majority of the game, it’s just you against an entire town full of mutated freaks.
This said, you can technically get a helpful pal early on if you just give them a helping hand yourself.
At the very beginning of the game, Leon stumbles upon a dog with its paw trapped inside a bear trap. The animal can be easily dismissed as a prop, suffering in the background to make the atmosphere feel even more eerie.
However, if you can’t stand to see the pup hurting and decide to rescue it, you can actually do so by interacting with the bear trap. Your rescued pal will immediately run for the trees, but this isn’t the last time you will see it.
Helping the dog isn’t just there to make you feel better. If you rescued it from the trap, it will actually come to aid you during the boss fight with El Gigante! As the big mutant rushes at you, the dog will jump out of the woods and start distracting it, making the fight a lot easier.
