10 Video Game Good Deeds Worth Doing Every Time

2. Don't Catapult Barcus (As Funny As It Seems) - Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with moral choices. From small good deeds and mischiefs to decisions that can shape the fate of the entire world, it’s impossible to get through the game without eventually choosing one end of the moral spectrum.

Choosing between good or bad things is usually only a matter of personal preference. However, certain decisions are clearly better than others, and this is the case with Barcus Wroot, who can give you great rewards if you just act nice towards him.

Barcus is a Deep Gnome who you first encounter in Act 1, when a group of goblins straps him to a moving windmill. After you dispose of his captors, you get the option to stop the spinning mill or “release” the brake, catapulting Barcus up, up, and away.

And while it is certainly funny to do the former, helping Barcus out is objectively better in the long run.

While freeing Barcus doesn't give you rewards right away, it secretly is the first step to the long series of quests that not only offer plenty of rewards but also allow you to recruit his gnome clan, the Ironhands, and their rivals, the Gondians, as allies for the final battle.

Without Barcus it’s impossible to gain the benefits of both factions simultaneously, so even though he might annoy you, it’s definitely better to help him out.
