10 Video Game Guinness World Records That Will Blow You Away

4. The World's Largest Game Boy

Hardly the most portable version of the almost three-decades-old system, this. Measuring just over 1 metre tall, 62 centimetres wide and 20 centimetres deep, it's not the kind of system to kick back on the sofa and play for a few hours.

Ilhan Ünal of Belgium spent over a month designing and building this monolith as a tribute to the system he loved as a child and wanted to celebrate the Game Boy's prominence in many-a-gamer's childhood. It's not just a novelty showpiece, either, as it's fully functional and plays all the games the system offers.

Probably the most awesome feature is that the screen has no ghosting or darkness to it, so the need for a giant 3rd party accessory to see the screen is gone.

His record was actually set in 2016, on the 13th of November, and entered the Guinness book in 2017. It doesn't seem as though there'll be many contenders to top this one for some time, either.

Ünal is now an engineer so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with next!

Bryan Langley’s first console was the Super Nintendo and he hasn’t stopped using his opposable thumbs since. He is based in Bristol, UK and is still searchin' for them glory days he never had.
