10 Video Game Guinness World Records That Will Blow You Away

2. Largest Video Game Collection

YouTube, Twitch and forums feature plenty of personalities who have shelves from floor-to-ceiling stuffed so full of video games they resemble a city library. Often featuring hundreds of games from several systems, representing thousands of pounds, dollars or euros spent, it's a shorthand way to show credibility as a gamer.

Whether it's early originators like the Angry Video Game Nerd, outspoken originals like AlphaOmegaSin, or classic comedians like PeanutButterGamer, everyone has their collection to show off.

But these pale in comparison to Joel Hopkins. Hailing from Australia, Hopkins has a whopping 17,446 games in his collection. Yes: over Seventeen. Thousand. Games. Housed in a room the size of most retailers, Hopkins is, believe it or not, expanding his home - which is already already purpose-built - to now create arcade space and a computer room in addition to the sizeable main room of games on shelves.

In 2014 the world's then-largest collection was 11,000 games and sold for a tidy $750k. It's safe to say that Joel Hopkins' record is going nowhere at 17,000 and counting.
