10 Video Game Moments That Were Utterly Patronising

Rocket League is a great game. Developed and published by Psyonix in 2015 as a sequel to their Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars title, Rocket League pits two teams of rocket-fuelled miniature cars against eachother in a game of soccer. With stunning visuals and well oiled controls, the game is the perfect blend between lighthearted party fun and a genuine high skill ceiling Esport that players can grind hundreds of hours into.

However, it's introduction is easily one of the most patronising tutorials any gamer is ever likely to find. When loading up the game for the first time or exploring through the basic training modes, players will be instructed by the game that they accelerate their car by pressing R2 on the PlayStation version or RT on the Xbox.

There are only a handful of buttons on a controller console that this basic function could possibly be attributed to, but this is bit of 'training' is made even more patronising by the fact that almost every game out there with a racing simulator feature has this controller set up.

It would take a special kind of gamer to not be able to work out how to drive a car, Psyonix.
