10 Video Game Mysteries That BAFFLED Gamers For Years
3. Access The Inaccessible Room - Doom II
Even if you were a Doom veteran, completing the original hellish shooter was a tall order. However, it was nothing compared to Doom II, which was literally impossible to 100%.
But the reason why the game couldn't be fully completed wasn't due to skill, but a glitch. Near the Industrial Zone's exit, there's a door-shaped wall marked as a secret sector on the automap.
Naturally, players assumed that passing through this wall would gain them access to a bonus area. But according to John Romero, it was a dummy door erroneously marked as a secret.
Despite being created by accident, players were desperate to get inside so they could 100% the main campaign. The door can be bypassed via cheats, but there didn't seem to be any way to get through it conventionally.
But in 2018, visionary gamer, Zero Master, discovered you can clip into the supposedly impenetrable room by luring a Pain Elemental to the area and allowing it to shove you through.
As such, Zero Master became the first person to 100% Doom II in 24 years. Due to accomplishing this seemingly impossible feat, Romero himself congratulated the Doom advocate on X.
