10 Video Game Plot Twists EVERYONE Saw Coming
These twists were obvious from a damn mile away.
Plot twists are of course commonplace in all storytelling mediums, but they can hit especially hard in a video game when you've spent potentially dozens, even hundreds of hours getting to the end of the story, only to be bamboozled with a shocking reveal that makes you rethink everything.
But not all plot twists are created equal, and it goes without saying that some either don't work or are just so damn predictable that everyone sees them coming a mile off.
Now, there are certainly far worse things for a twist to be than predictable - clunky, forced, and stupid, for instance - but there are absolutely games that leave players waiting way too long for a rug-pull they figured out hours and hours earlier.
And that's absolutely the case with these 10 video game plot twists, each of which were so aggressively signposted and hilariously obvious that just about everyone saw them coming.
Hell, in extreme cases fans might've figured things out before the game even came out, courtesy of a wildly overzealous marketing campaign that just didn't know the meaning of the word "subtlety..."
10. Jason Todd Is The Arkham Knight - Batman: Arkham Knight
Let's kick things off with one of the most hilariously obvious twists in gaming history.
The moment that the first trailer dropped for Batman: Arkham Knight and revealed the antagonist known as the Arkham Knight, many Bat-fans predicted that they would turn out to be none other than Jason Todd.
For one, the Arkham Knight appeared to have many parallels with Todd's own story in the classic "Under the Red Hood" comic arc, and honestly it was just tough to picture any other notable Batman character actually making sense in the suit.
Rocksteady tried to throw fans off the scent by promising that the Arkham Knight was an entirely new character, but most weren't having it, instead remaining firm in their conviction that they knew what was up.
And indeed, the Arkham Knight was ultimately revealed to be Jason Todd with such smack-you-over-the-head "yeah, duh!" obviousness that most fans seemed to just wonder why Rocksteady bothered making a surprise out of it at all.
