10 Video Game Remake Character Designs Everyone Hated

1. Adolf Hitler - Persona 2: Innocent Sin

The original version of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, released solely in Japan in 1999 for PlayStation, was controversial for a cameo appearance from Adolf Hitler, who is resurrected for a brief boss fight.

This was one of several reasons which led to the game never being localised outside of Japan, at least until Innocent Sin was finally given the remake treatment for the PSP in 2011.

But in a predictable act of cowardice, Hitler's presence was "censored" in the remake, with his name changed to "Fuhrer" and...a pair of sunglasses being put on his face, much to the frustration of fans.

Many were ultimately just baffled that developer Atlus felt like sunglasses and a tangential nickname were enough to offset any potential offensiveness of putting Hitler in the game.

Ultimately, fans were more offended by Hitler's quasi-exclusion than anything.
