10 Video Game Reveals That Make You Wish You’d Given Up Instead
2. Mislaid Intentions - Enslaved: Odyssey To The West
Enslaved is one of those games that deserves more attention than it didn't get on release. For me, it had the potential to be the next Beyond Good & Evil, but it didn't quite reach that status. It came and went, without as much as a passing glance from some.
Which is a shame, as it's a great action adventure game, full of lush landscapes to explore and some pretty weighty combat. It also gave us the unlikely pairing of Monkey and Trip (if you don't know your fable history), as they find out what's causing all the evil robots and such.
Is it some evil AI, or some big nasty corporation hell bent on the usual world domination schtick?
Err, not quite...
As it transpires, it's one man in a pyramid who has people hooked up to a "happy thought machine" for fear of exposing them to the harsh realities of the real world.
Considering the previous scene included giant mecha scorpions, it was slightly deflating to see that there was no evil force or whatnot - just a chap with mislaid intentions of keeping people warm and fuzzy.
