10 Video Game Speed-Run Achievements Only Hardcore Players Will Unlock
5. Speed Run - The Stanley Parable
The Achievement: "Complete The Stanley Parable in under 4 minutes 22 seconds (not including load times)."
Much like Gone Home, a successful run of The Stanley Parable's "Speed Run" achievement takes no time at all, but actually getting it done is no easy feat.
Rather than impose a punishingly tight time window upon players, this gloriously meta "walking simulator" tries to prevent players from popping the achievement at all by making the method so bizarrely esoteric.
For starters, you need to have beaten the game twice already, and on the third time the narrator will open a passage for you.
Secondly, you need to keep restarting the game until you spawn in the correct area of the game which will allow you to quickly make it to the end.
It's basically an anti-speedrun designed to test players' hunger for the achievement, especially as triggering the right conditions for a successful run can take more than 15 minutes of relentless restarting.
Unsurprisingly, few have the patience or the inclination for that, so despite its deceptive simplicity, only 5.6% of Steam players have ever actually achieved it.
This isn't even the only troll-achievement in the game, as the legendary "Go outside" 'cheev can only be popped by not playing the game for five years.
