10 Video Game Villains Who SUCK At Being Evil
3. Team Skull - Pokemon Sun and Moon
Pokemon villains have never been all too serious (if their fashion sense is anything to go by), but ever since the series' third generation, they have upped the ante with schemes of world domination or even world destruction.
Playing games from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire all the way to Pokemon X and Y feels like being constantly pitted against the highest stakes possible, having to prevent total annihilation even though your character is just a kid trying to earn gym badges.
That's why the introduction of Team Skull in Pokemon Sun and Moon feels like a refreshing change of pace.
Unlike the fanatical world-destroying organization of old, Team Skill is just a small-time band of lowlifes.
They're not particularly threatening, and they're certainly not too successful at being evil, since they're all lazy and unorganized punks who are more likely to fight amongst each other than do any serious planning.
Because of their incompetence and lack of ambition, the Skulls feel more like a nuisance than proper antagonists, but that's exactly why they work better as Pokémon villains.
When all you care about is becoming a Pokemon champion, stopping a petty thief who's too dumb for their own good feels much less distracting than preventing huge world-ending schemes.
