10 Video Games Designed To Totally Screw With You

1. The Prisoner Wants You To Reveal Your Secrets

Prisoner Game
Edu-Ware

Loosely – oh-so-very loosely – based on the TV series of the same name, The Prisoner was an adventure game for the Apple II. The setup’s pretty much the same as the TV show: You’re an intelligence agent who’s kidnapped and confined to The Island, because you know things the authorities want to know.

The rules of the game are infuriatingly simple: You’re given a three-digit code. Don’t tell anyone what that code is. The computer, meanwhile, will use every trick it can to obtain the information, and that includes falsifying a system crash in the hopes that you’ll use the code to restore the game.

So go ahead, just pop those three digits into the command line and… Game over. Genius.
