Superhero simulator Batman: Arkham Asylum is just about the greatest comic book game ever made, but even ol’ Bats - and the player controlling him - isn’t immune from a little mind-melting from time to time.

It apparently comes out of nowhere. One moment you’re Dark Knight-ing about when suddenly the screen flickers and blurs. Pixellated blocks coat the screen. The sound dips and crackles. ‘This isn’t right,’ you’ll think to yourself, reaching out to reset your machine.

It may not be right, but it’s all part of the chaotic plan.

From there, the game will restart, only now you're playing as The Joker, hustling the Caped Crusader into the asylum where he so clearly belongs.

Thankfully, Rocksteady added a little clue that this is supposed to happen; an on-screen hint reads: ‘Use the middle stick to dodge Joker’s gun fire.’ That middle stick that doesn’t exist, you mean? Well played, developers.
