10 Video Games In 2021 Everyone Regretted Buying

3. Deathloop

Deathloop PS5

Deathloop is by far the most critically acclaimed video game on this list, albeit one that's received a far more lukewarm response from players in general.

As appealing as the time loop concept is for the new FPS from Dishonored developers Arkane Studios, and as fun as the core gunplay is, Deathloop takes a disappointingly watered-down approach to its delicious premise.

The idea of having to assassinate eight people in one fell swoop in order to escape a time loop is fantastic, yet Arkane give players shockingly little room for experimentation, as the throughline is actually relatively linear and straight-forward.

It doesn't help that you'll soon become hilariously overpowered whether you want to or not, and so the game is bafflingly lacking in challenge - especially without any difficulty options available.

As neat as it is conceptually, Deathloop's deflating execution makes it a hard sell, especially in a market becoming increasingly clogged up by time loop games - such as the effortlessly superior Returnal.
