10 Video Games That Are Better When You Break Them
3. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Breath of the Wild is a somewhat controversial title amongst the Zelda faithful as it dares to shake up the formula. It removes a lot of expected cornerstones from the franchise and introduces a massive open world. Some found the new Hyrule to invite feelings of exploration and adventure and some found it boring and empty.
Whether you love or hate it though, sometimes you just want to get around quicker, and in style. Luckily, the game also introduces a wave of new powers for Link that, wouldn't you know it, are prime for trickery.
The stasis power can be applied to an object and then momentum can be built up whilst it's frozen. So, in short, you can lay into a boulder, climb atop it and when it unfreezes it will sail you through the air. Similarly, the magnesis power can be used to craft airships and karts out of unsuspecting terrain elements.
What makes this all the more noteworthy is that Nintendo either expected it or were otherwise happy to see it as it definitely made an impact on the follow-up. Tears of the Kingdom's core mechanics focus on environmental exploitation, including creating new modes of transportation or destruction out of anything one can find.
It's early days yet but the internet has already shown that it's mad wealth of ideas might even influence the next game all over again.
