10 Video Games That Are Practically Flawless

9: Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

I swear this isn’t a personal list, I say for the second entry in a row, though this does happen to be my second favourite game of all time.

BioWare are masters of role playing games and there’s perhaps nowhere they prove that more comprehensively than with 2003’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It didn’t hurt that we all grew up loving Star Wars and devouring any game that would let us drive a starfighter or wield a lightsaber, but KOTOR is something special.

The game has satisfying character customisation options, a broad levelling system that extends to speccing into Force powers, plenty of fascinating characters to meet, and diverse planets to explore all within one of the greatest stories that’s ever been told in video games. Its performances are incredible, your choices and relationships with your crewmates develop in fascinating ways, and uncovering each piece of the puzzle that makes up the side stories and main campaign is a worthy pursuit you won’t be able to forget. The game sounds amazing, combat is a blast, and that plot twist will absolutely go down in the annals of gaming history.

It should have come as no surprise that the creators of Baldur’s Gate II, which could also easily be at home on this list, wouldn’t let Star Wars fans down, but they created what remains to be one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
