10 Video Games That Didn't Know When To End

4. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X

For all of the issues that the earlier Resident Evil games have, being too long certainly isn't one of them, with the exception of the largely underrated Code Veronica X, which introduces in its greatest abundance my most loathed enemy in the history of gaming - backtracking. Even if the earlier games occasionally had you running back to trunks to pick up a crank or something, Code Veronica takes it to ridiculous levels. The backtracking here is some of the most monotonous and boring I've ever seen in a game, compounded by the fact that the famous opening door loading screen slows things down even more. Fetch quests are nothing new in games, but they appear here at their most painful, distending the game out and again making me feel completely exasperated by the time the ending came around. Cut all this crap out and the game, which is a fair bit longer than the earlier RE games already, would be at least an hour or two shorter.
