For those unfamiliar with Decarnation, this is a dark-as-hell game that tells the story of Gloria, a cabaret dancer who is subjected to a horrid nightmare at the hands of an obsessive "admirer," after a sculptor commissions a nude statue of her. It's a compelling tale of survival, societal pressures, and empowerment - themes that are tied together wonderfully in the main ending.
This ending shows Gloria overcoming the physical and psychological horrors she has experienced, making peace with herself and her situation. You then take control of her car as she literally rides off into the sunset. It's a gorgeous way to end the game, given what she has been through.
The thing is, it doesn't stop there, as there just had to be a little post-credit sting to ruin it.
This final epilogue shows Gloria's mother, Victoria, meeting up with the sculptor who made the original statue, before taking off her clothes and posing for a new one. While this ending offers a somewhat redemptive arc for the sculptor and Victoria, it's still a jarring final note, given how perfect Gloria's cathartic car ride was.
