7. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
The opening to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order introduces us to protagonist and Jedi-in-disguise Cal and his colleague Prauf, both working on a shipbreaking yard in the early days of the Imperial Era. Prauf is warm, talkative and repeatedly refers to Cal as “pal” and “kid”. He bestows Fatherly advice and is excited that their latest find, a Jedi starfighter, might fetch them enough credits to get Cal out into space rather than stuck working the same deadend job.
However, an accident occurs and Cal outs himself by using the Force to save Prauf’s life. Prauf is appreciative and swears secrecy but the pair agree that Cal should leave as soon as possible to avoid the Empire’s spies.
Unfortunately, the Empire arrives and asks for the Force-sensitive employee to come forward. To distract them, Prauf winds up stepping up to rant about the Empire and, for his troubles, gets a lightsaber to the chest.
This opening section of Fallen Order is a really cool insight into the smaller people of the Star Wars universe, people like Prauf who winds up paying the ultimate price for standing in the way of a blood feud between the Empire and the Jedi. It’s an unfair death but, true to his word, he repays Cal for his earlier act of heroics and sets the entire story in motion.
