4. Sean Smith - Eve Online

Now I won’t lie to you, I simply do not understand Eve Online, I’m not saying that in the sense that I don’t get what people get out of it, but I’m just holding my hands up to state that all those stats and businesses genuinely confuse me. However what I do know is that CCP the makers of the game, while being involved in some weird shady stuff within their games did do a true act of honor when it came to remembering hardcore player and Council of Star Management member Sean Smith.

Smith was tragically killed in an assault on a US compound in Libya back in 2012, his position as and Information Officer for the US Foreign Service had seen him placed there and most disturbingly of all, he noted to a fellow Eve Online player the night before his death that he’d seen some of the so called “police” forces taking photos of his compound.

To commemorate his involvement with the game CCP and the playerbase made numerous tributes including renaming a massive outpost in his name and even lighting up the universe itself in loving memory with their ships.
