10 Video Games That Influenced EVERYTHING You Play

1. The Legend Of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

It seems so simple nowadays, to be able to lock on to enemies near, far, over your head or sneaking up behind you that we take it as rote.

Yet there was a time where chance was a fine thing that a game could cope with something as drastic as targeting enemies on the Z axis.

Step forward, then, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time.

The first fully 3D Zelda title, OoT was groundbreaking in so many ways. From its massive story, insane amount of world building and activities to do, it was worthy of all the praise.

The real game changer though, was the combat. It could have been left as the norm: just have Link flailing about in a 3D world hoping to hit whatever angle he could. But that wasn't enough.

Having him able to lock on to targets on any immediate axis and focus on them was such a massive deal, one that still gets utilised heavily today.

It seems so simple now, but back in 1998 it was insane how much detail had gone into the combat.
