Sierra Entertainment

Sierra Entertainment is a game company best known for its graphic adventure games like Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, and their oldest and best-known franchise, King’s Quest.

Back in the day, Sierra games were known for their extremely brutal games over screens. No, not because the death animations were gruesome, but because the games would ruthlessly humiliate you for your failure. The best example of these types of roasts can be found in King's Quest V.

In the game, you play as King Graham, and your adventures through the realm are narrated by a rather friendly and amicable narrator. That is, until you get Graham killed, in which case the narrator unleashes the full potential of his sass.

For each of your deaths, the narrator has some kind of snarky remark to make, to sink in just how much of a failure you are. The dumber the death, the more you can be certain that the narrator is going to be absolutely merciless about it.

You might think it’s unfair, but then again, the only reason these screens appear is because you’re reckless enough to walk towards a hissing snake or refuse to drink water in the middle of a scorching desert.
