10 Video Games That Just Got Cancelled

8. TimeSplitters Reboot

Halo cancelled

In the waiting stakes, Deux Ex fans have nothing on TimeSplitters fans, who last grasped a new entry into the hit FPS franchise - TimeSplitters: Future Perfect - way back in 2005.

In the years since, fans have tirelessly campaigned for a fourth TimeSplitters, and in May 2021, their prayers finally seemed to be answered, when publisher Deep Silver announced that they were reviving the series' studio, Free Radical Design, with many key personnel returning to make a new TimeSplitters.

Fans were overjoyed, though last December, parent company Embracer Group decided to shutter Free Radical, in turn effectively cancelling what was to be a reboot of the TimeSplitters franchise.

Mere days after the announcement, artists who worked on the game began posting concept art and images of assets online, giving fans a tiny glimpse at what it could've been.

Sadly the fact that artists were given permission to post said concept art likely indicates that Embracer has little-to-no plans for TimeSplitters in the foreseeable future.

And so, the deprived fanbase's anguish soon enough ticks over into its third decade.
