10 Video Games That Launched With A Severe Lack Of Content

7. Assassin's Creed

Surprised to see this here? You really shouldn't be; the first Assassin's Creed - if you can remember video games you played over a decade years ago - was terribly dull in terms of what the laws of its world actually allowed you to do.

Sure, the core mechanics of dive-bombing into haystacks and burying small blades in the backs of mean people were present with the series' maiden voyage, but beyond that, there really wasn't much to speak of. I mean, besides unlocking the many, many viewpoints scattered about the place that had almost zero functionality.

Shops, gear upgrades, a customisable base of operations, more mission variety: that's the stuff that Assassin's Creed needed and, as if by magic, all of those sought-after features were seamlessly weaved into Assassin's Creed 2 to make it one of the best games of the last generation. Never say games publishers/developers never listen to fan feedback.

Now, if only Ubisoft could do some sort of retrofit job on the first game to include all the stuff its successor had. It may look pretty, but my god is it bland.
