10 Video Games That Let You Get Away With Being An Absolute Dick

6. Dark Souls

Dark Souls Trolls
FromSoftware

Though the Dark Souls games are often punishing exercises in self-flagellation, the series' fantastic asynchronous multiplayer allows players to leave brief but helpful messages for their fellow adventurers.

And while FromSoftware's intent was for players to provide advice for upcoming encounters or point out a useful diversion, many naturally used the opportunity to only make an already tough-as-nails game even more of a demoralising slog.

One of the most common attempts at trolling players involves leaving a note near a ledge and inviting fellow warriors to take a leap of faith in order to obtain some nifty treasure - which naturally leads to nothing but death.

You can also claim that a hidden passage exists where it actually doesn't, causing players to waste 10 minutes searching before they (hopefully) realise you're having them on.

You can't really blame players for taking some time out from the game's harshly unforgiving world to have fun messing around, even if it's an undeniable dick move all the same.
