10 Video Games That Make You Realise How Greedy The Industry Has Become
2. Star Wars Battlefront 2's Launch State
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was
essentially a re-skin of DICE’S Battlefield series but with Star Wars which made a lot of people happy. Hiding in the shadows though were the Sith of the gaming industry, EA.
Announcing an expensive season pass before the first games release was a bad idea so hopes weren't quite so high with news of a sequel.
Minds were changed when no season pass was to appear alongside this instalment. Fans still didn't trust EA and were sceptical. Sadly that skepticism was warranted when news broke that unless players grinded upwards of 40 hours or paid real money they wouldn't be able to play as some of the most iconic characters in the franchise like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader online.
Loot boxes were also heavily featured in the game and certain star cards and characters were locked behind them, meaning if you really wanted something you would have to spend real money to only still have a chance of getting what you want.
Ultimately fans rallied against EA and they overhauled the whole system making the game very playable and fun, also adding free DLC updates. Turned to the light side, they have?
