In a world before Pokemon Go, Flappy Bird took smartphones by storm with its addictive high-score formula provoking 'one more turn' for anyone who touches it.

Tapping the screen over and over has never been so anger-inducing, as the titular bird's complete inability to fly (you know, that thing that the VAST majority of birds do?) has you propping it up with the tap of a finger as it navigates itself through a never-ending collection of Mario-inspired pipes.

The game is impossibly annoying an will only serve to piss you off, until you have another go. The craze was short lived, however, as Flappy Bird was pulled from the App Store in early 2014, citing overuse and its addictive nature as the reason for its cancellation.

It's no wonder, as the simplicity of its design and seemingly easy challenge will have you constantly replay the game, with every death a source of frustration but also the main source of the gamer's unyielding persistence.

Though the game never made its way to home consoles, Flappy Bird is perhaps the first game that comes to mind when the words 'frustrating' and 'fun' are mentioned.
