10 Video Games That Start With The BIGGEST Boss Fight

3. Metal Gear RAY - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

God Of War Hydra
Platinum Games

This Metal Gear Solid spin-off starts with the cyberninja Raiden on a military mission when he's suddenly attacked by a Metal Gear RAY (which roars despite the fact it's clearly a robot).

These WMDs have been faced time and time again throughout the franchise, but players should still get thrown off by the RAY here, since they probably weren't expecting to see this death machine in the opening level. Though Raiden is a master mercenary armed with a high-frequency blade, this fight isn't easy, since the RAY is fast, fierce, and really frickin' big.

Standing over 20 meters tall, Raiden barely comes up to the android's heel. Despite its overwhelming size, the RAY is quite light on its ten-ton feet, zipping around the arena with ease. Armed with machine guns, missile launchers, bomb launchers, a plasma cannon, and a heat sword the size of a five-storey building, the RAY has never looked this frightening.

Although Metal Gear has some of the most iconic and creative boss battles in gaming history, fans have rarely faced an enemy as intimidating as this, especially this early in the main campaign.
