4. Vepar - Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night

Although every boss in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is enormous, Vepar stands out above the rest. Not only is this sea monster massive, she's surprisingly difficult for a tutorial baddie.

Our demon-hunting Shardbinder, Miriam, must pummel Vepar, while she unleashes nasty molluscs, whips her tentacles across the deck, and spews acid and fireballs from her toothed stomach. (Gross.)

When the algae-covered ogress appears on the side of the ship, Miriam must stand beside her to deal serious damage. However, Miriam is vulnerable when she does this, since she'll be right beside Vepar's beastly belly, which never stops unleashing projectiles.

The bout is also tricky, since Vepar's tentacles can smack Miriam from behind, while our heroine is focusing on attacking the boss' body. For this reason, players need to keep an eye on every part of Vepar to avoid being sideswiped. This doesn't sound so bad but remember, Vepar is pretty damn big.

Even though this battle is infuriating, fighting Vepar is beneficial, since it teaches players how to evade, monitor multiple targets, and effectively use short and long-range weapons early on.
