The Bayonetta franchise centres around an an angel/demon hybrid, who may hold the key to ending the war between Paradiso and Inferno once and for all. While Bayonetta travels across the globe and beyond, a Lumen Sage called Balder prepares to resurrect the Creator of the Universe, Jubileus.

Now, because Jubileus is literally God, you don't expect our ass-kicking heroine would have a chance against her. As a result, you naturally assume Balder will serve as the main villain. So, when Bayonetta puts a bullet right between the Sage's eyes, his tower collapses, implying your adventure is over.

Five minutes into the ending, Balder pops up as if nothing happens and resurrects Jubileus, forcing Bayonetta to square off with a literal deity.

After enduring a relentless battle with the divine being, our salacious sorceress triumphs. As the credits roll, the player can't help but breathe an enormous sigh of relief.

But then, Bayonetta realises Jubileus' corpse is about to collide into the world, which will cause cataclysmic destruction. Only after the titular witch reduces the almighty's remains to dust can she hang her high heels up.
