3. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

2008's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was a triumph for LucasArts and THQ.

A brand new story set between episodes three and four, the player assumes the role of Starkiller - Darth Vader's secret apprentice.

Tasked with hunting down and defeating the last of the fugitive Jedi Knights, Starkiller must wield his crimson blade and Force powers with freedom and abandon never before seen in a Star Wars game.

Utilising a brand new, cutting edge physics engine, Starkiller calls on the Dark side to burst through doors, uproot trees, choke his enemies, and shoot lightning at his adversaries before cutting them down with his customisable lightsaber.

The available endings to the Force Unleashed, however, both showcase the destruction of our antihero.

The Light side ending shows Starkiller defeat Darth Sidious, but is prevented from killing him by former Jedi Rahm Kota. The Emperor, however, looses Force lightning at Starkiller, who absorbs it to facilitate his allies' escape, sacrificing himself.

The Dark side ending sees our boy kill Darth Vader and (stupidly) turn his sights on the Emperor, who destroys Starkiller with less effort than it would take to bullseye a Womp Rat, crushing him before encasing his broken body in cold, hard armour, Vader-style.
