10 Video Games With Amazing Bosses (Except The Last One)

9. Bowser - Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine may have been a disappointment, but at least the boss encounters were delightfully imaginative. (Plus, it introduced the gaming community to the wonder that is Petey Piranha.)

However, it appears Nintendo didn't have a clue what to do for this platformer's climax. After making your way through a surprisingly bare bones dungeon, Mario comes face-to-face with his nemesis, who's relaxing in an acid bath.

Upset that the Italian plumber has interrupted his vacation, Bowser begins spewing fire and tossing acid at you. By launching yourself into the air and groundpounding the five corners of the room, you will shatter the tub, forcing the King of Koopas to fall into the chasm below.

Because this whole ordeal is over in 45 seconds, most players assume it's merely the preamble to the real fight. After all, Bowser fought Mario in a multi-phase brawl in other games, so why would this be any different?

But that isn't the case. Once Bowser falls out of the bath, the game's over.

Do you know what's worse? The battle with Mecha-Bowser in Pinna Park is far more innovative! If this robotic version of Bowser served as the final boss instead of the real one, the showdown wouldn't feel as anticlimactic.
