3. A Deep Levelling System & Greater Elizabeth Powers - Bioshock Infinite

Coming as a mixture of racial and political ideologues with simplistic shooting and a story that has more twists and turns than Microsoft's Xbox One forecast, Bioshock Infinite reportedly had enough material to "make five or six full games", according to creator Ken Levine, which he noted was "alarming" in an interview with Polygon.

Sifting through the various materials left behind - and thanks to Youtube channel TheGamersJoint for this info - there was a far deeper system of levelling available; one that would allow you to add headpieces, arms, legs and chest items, before potentially taking it into an online multiplayer.

Better yet, the original, beta version of Elizabeth would take a far more active role in combat, using her various time and space-bending powers to halt enemies, or create projectiles that you could then manipulate and throw yourself. As she explored and built on her potential, you'd be given the ability to control storms, and the 'tears' between each reality would be far more violent and impactful - such as reportedly allowing you to pull in something like a train from another timeline, which would naturally obliterate any enemies in your way.

The final version of Infinite always felt like a mishmash of ideals - especially seeing as the levelling system that was left behind ultimately felt pointless by game's end - and now we know why.
