Gran Turismo 2 is a fantastic racing game that was truly ahead-of-its-time in many ways, but the original Japanese and American releases of the game unfortunately featured a mistake which literally prevented the player from racking up 100% completion.

GT2 was rushed to market for Christmas 1999, resulting in a number of planned races, rumoured to be drag races, being cut from the game late in production, accounting for the 1.8% completion missing from that final total.

Someone forgot to re-jig the data, leaving millions of Japanese and American players baffled at their inability to fully complete the game in earnest. The issue was fixed in time for the European release over a month later, at least.

Even as recently as three years ago, however, the error has been a major point of discussion among players, creating quite the debate in the speedrunning community about whether or not 98.2% could be accepted as 100%. Come on, have a heart.
