10 Video Games You Constantly Have To Defend Loving

2. DmC: Devil May Cry

A lot of Devil May Cry fans would simply prefer not to even acknowledge the existence of 2013's reboot DmC, especially as the experimental retooling never got a sequel and Capcom eventually returned to the original iteration of Dante.

DmC is a game that scored surprisingly solid reviews from critics despite the avalanche of pre-release hate for its reworked "emo" rendition of Dante, and it's just as well.

Sure, the new Dante design pales in comparison to the classic version, and the game's "edgy" tone certainly won't work for everyone, but where it matters most - the gameplay - DmC is an absolute banger.

If not as challenging as its predecessors, DmC is a thrillingly breezy hack 'n' slash character action game best thought of as a fun adjunct to the mainline series, and one not nearly worthy of the petty vitriol it's still festooned with no matter that fans eventually got "their" Devil May Cry back.

Express even mild positivity towards DmC and you're apparently earmarking yourself as a filthy casual fan of the series.
