10 Video Games You Didn't Know JUST Got Delisted
6. MultiVersus
Back in May, Warner Bros.' shameless Smash clone MultiVersus was delisted and its multiplayer servers shut down, a revelation which left many surprised the game was actually still going.
After all, Warner Bros. made the extremely ill-advised decision to run early access and open beta versions of the game for an entire year from July 2022 to June 2023.
Though MultiVersus enjoyed huge player numbers in its initial beta phase, the lack of meaningful updates caused the player count to dwindle to mere hundreds over the course of a year, after which Warner Bros. announced that the beta would be finally ending.
It was a baffling choice as many players assumed MultiVersus would simply transition smoothly from beta to full game without any downtime, but the game ultimately went offline for almost a whole year before relaunching on May 28, 2024.
Though there was a brief resurgence in interest, the player count again fell off a cliff in short order and never recovered, many feeling that the decision to put the game on a year-long hiatus killed its already dubious momentum.
Here's to you, MultiVersus - a game that was actually pretty damn fun as blatant clones go, but lacked the competent management to actually survive long-term.
