10 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Secretly Sequels
3. Blair Witch Volume I: Rustin Parr - Nocturne
If you picked up a game called Blair Witch Volume I: Rustin Parr, you'd probably assume it'd be a tie-in to the horror franchise of the same name, right? Well, this 2000 video game is, in name, related to the series, but rather than being a Blair Witch Project spin-off, it's more of a follow-up to Terminal Reality's previous game, Nocturne. Isn't that strange?
Blair Witch Vol I opens inside the Spookhouse HQ, the base of operations for Nocturne's fictional organization designed to tackle problems of the supernatural kind. You play as Spookhouse agent Elspeth "Doc" Holiday as she's sent to investigate the case of Rustin Parr, a crazed man in Burkittsville, Maryland. The protagonist of Nocturne, The Stranger, is even assigned to be your partner, although he ultimately doesn't join the investigation.
The game is far from perfect, but it's an enjoyable, spooky romp and a great unexpected crossover for fans of Nocturne and Blair Witch. Plus, it's the only real way to delve deeper into the Spookhouse mythos, given that Nocturne never got an official sequel.
